I recently saw "Sins and Secrets" that focused on Mechele. I had seen her story on another show previously so I was familiar with it. At the end of S&S, it said Mechele had been released and when I googled her name today, I discovered that Alaska has chosen not to reindict her. I was happy to hear this. I know it has been a long road with a lot of pain, but I hope you can get your life back and enjoy your freedom.
Write a book. It would clarify a lot for those of use who have followed your story. Congratulations. I hope that you can repair the dameage done to yo by the State of Alaska "justice" system.
I was just wondering, is the full transcript of Kent's letter to his family available? The show included snippets, but I would be interested to read it. It's hard to get a sense of what he was saying when things are taken out of context.
I looked for Mechele's facebook page, what is it exactly, can you post a lin? When I first saw this on 48 hours I rooted for her, I would love to follow her on facebook and see that the Lord put thing right!
CONGRATULATIONS....I too, have followed this story; and just now saw that you are FREE...that Alaska isn't going to re-indict you! That is WONDERFUL news! Enjoy your daughter and the rest of your family! God Bless!
Free Mechele is run by friends and family of Mechele Linehan with occasional input from Mechele's husband, Colin. Mechele was convicted in October 2007 of conspiring to murder Kent Leppink. This conviction was overturned on appeal in February 2010, after she had served over 2 years in prison. Mechele is currently out on bail with heavy restrictions in Alaska, awaiting a second trial. We believe that this trial will prove her innocence, if the prosecution doesn't drop it before then due to lack of evidence.
Please be aware that this site is heavily moderated. Only positive sharing on the journey to true justice will be the focus here.
We have the deepest condolences for the Leppink family, but believe a mistake has been made in finding the person(s) responsible for the death of their son.
Prior to Judge Volland's April 2008 sentence of 99 years for Mechele, numerous family, friends, and even strangers wrote letters asking for leniency based on what we know of her. We have been collecting and posting as many of these letters as we can, in order to create a more complete picture of who Mechele truly is, as seen by those closest to her. If you have a letter you'd like us to post, let us know.

Yes, the letter is available as part of the transcript during the first trial.
