Hi to everyone!
Thanks to all who have personally emailed me regarding the letter writing campaign that I posted about previously. After discussing our options, we have deceided that we should wait until after our appeal has been granted. The main reason behind this is the fact that the three judge panel are ONLY going to consider the points as outlined in the appeal. Thus, it would be to no avail to address other issues to these judges. Hopefully we will have a date soon for oral arguments. Please keep Mechele in your prayers as we wait patiently (!) for this process to occur! I welcome any emails that you want to send. Thanks again for the outpouring of love and support!

About This Site
Free Mechele is run by friends and family of Mechele Linehan with occasional input from Mechele's husband, Colin. Mechele was convicted in October 2007 of conspiring to murder Kent Leppink. This conviction was overturned on appeal in February 2010, after she had served over 2 years in prison. Mechele is currently out on bail with heavy restrictions in Alaska, awaiting a second trial. We believe that this trial will prove her innocence, if the prosecution doesn't drop it before then due to lack of evidence.
Please be aware that this site is heavily moderated. Only positive sharing on the journey to true justice will be the focus here.

Sentencing Letters
Prior to Judge Volland's April 2008 sentence of 99 years for Mechele, numerous family, friends, and even strangers wrote letters asking for leniency based on what we know of her. We have been collecting and posting as many of these letters as we can, in order to create a more complete picture of who Mechele truly is, as seen by those closest to her. If you have a letter you'd like us to post, let us know.

Hi Sandy and Friends of Mechele. I am so grateful to have found your blogspot. I live in Olympia and I am an acquaintance of Mechele. We went to school together at St. Martins and at Evergreen. We shared a few classes together and worked on a few projects together. When I learned of her trial and subsequent conviction I was sickened. I think of Mechele often and have attempted to find updates on her appeal over the last year to no avail until I found this blogspot. The link to her mailing address is not working right now, but I am looking forward to writing her and supporting her any way that I can. What I do know about Mechele is that she has strong positive values and convictions, stands up for them, she has a good heart and cares deeply about her family. I can't imagine how big her daughter is now, but I remember her bringing her into class with her at St Martin's. She must have been 3 or 4. I am so sad that she doesn't physically have her mom right now. To her family, I am truly sorry for what you are going through. I can't even imagine the feelings of helplessness and powerlessness that you must feel at times. I hope this blogspot helps and that you all get the love and support you need. Give Mechele my warmest thoughts and wishes.
